Every experience I have ever had and will have is fundamentally unique, and on the hand, oftentimes its not unique at all. I was born at a unique place and time, no other birth will be the same. Yet, we were all born through the same processes, step by step a human is built up according to one’s DNA. Your molecular buildup is unique, yet we come out with nearly identical forms. The growth process is automatic and similar, but never the same.
Imagine walking through a grass yard barefoot. That experience is unique because you will never do that again at that time, that moment has gone. Its also unique because you could walk the same path as many times as you want but your feet will never hit each blade of grass exactly the same as a previous time, even if you tried. The chemicals in your body will never be quite the same as before, even if they are very similar and indeed feel identical. But it is also not unique at all. If you walk through the grass the same exact way twice in the same circumstances it would feel the same to you both times, so we would say its the same for all practical purposes. Someone else can walk right next to you and have a very similar experience - walking through grass at the same time, in the same weather, with the sun in the same position, etc. The feelings each person experiences may be nearly identical in so many ways we would say that experience would also be the same for all practical purposes. At some point there are so many shared variables the critical threshold is reached for a common understanding.
We all draw upon and exist in the same objective reality, which is why different people often times respond identically to the same thing. People love great writing, movies, music, art and other media. We are drawn to expressions that make us feel or think something, and the creator often times works to elicit a very specific response in others. We didnt previously feel or think that because the media triggered something within us; we never thought of it quite like that, never saw it quite like that, never read words quite like that, never heard a sound quite like that. We are drawn to these triggers because there is much within us that has yet to be set off.
For an idea to resonate within a person there has to be something already in place to resonate. An impact implies two parts, the first part doing the impacting and the second part being impacted. With media, the impactor is the media and the object being impacted is the observer. It is this deep level of communication that is one of the greatest feats of humanity, the ability to teach and learn more efficiently than ever. We consciously resonate ideas within each other to impact upon the world and try to make it a better place.
What an amazing opportunity modern technology is, we have created the most efficient learning mechanisms ever. How lucky am I to have so much that resonates within me, so much to explore in the world that will help me find what waiting to be discovered within myself. What resonates within you? What have you yet to explore within yourself? What resources do you have available that you aren’t utilizing fully? If there was ever a time to trigger something within yourself, that time is now.
